Next Gen Kerala Thinkfest-The Idea

Like the legend behind Onam, the thread of egalitarianism runs through Kerala's history has moulded this land into one of the most progressive societies of modern India. The new Kerala boasts of having a social order that broadly assures fair wages, high standard of living, culture of shared dignity, and democratised knowledge systems - it is with the strength of this inheritance that today's youth step into their future. Those great struggles of the past have opened up to us a future of exhilarating possibilities. But we have the challenges of our own time to surmount too.

Next Gen Kerala Thinkfest 2026 will be an open ground for collective inquiry. The Thinkfest will not offer ready-made answers; rather, it will host a shared process of critical examination, exchange, and innovation. Through this collective process, we hope to uncover ways of thinking and working that would match the scale of the challenges we face today.

Public Health

Trivandrum

Kerala consistently ranks among the best-performing states in all health indicators. With a well-developed network of primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare, it has managed public health crises such as COVID-19, Nipah, and vector-borne diseases with notable efficiency. Yet questions remain: What do rising lifestyle diseases and the growing number of healthcare professionals signify about the state's health system? What challenges lie ahead for Kerala's healthcare future? This chapter explores these questions through experience and informed discussion.
